Emergency Procedures

Winston-Salem State strives to maintain a safe and secure campus. However, there are a number of hazards which could affect the campus and the community. Knowing what hazards could occur is one of the best steps to being prepared. Listed below are some hazards to prepare for at Winston-Salem State University.

Natural Hazards

• Floods
• Tornadoes
• Hurricanes
• Thunderstorms
• Winter Storms
• Earthquakes
• Wildfires

Manmade Hazards

• Fire
• Chemical Spills
• Transportation Accidents
• Civil Disorder
• Terrorist Attacks
• Campus Shootings

Emergency procedures are intended for use by the Winston-Salem State University community. Please familiarize yourself with these procedures should an emergency situation occur. In the event of an emergency, they can serve as quick references for effective action. These procedures should be kept in an easily accessible location at all times, preferably at/or near the telephone.

New employees and students should be made aware of these procedures as part of the orientation process. Please familiarize yourself with the  Winston-Salem State Campus Map.

If you have any questions or comments, contact the WSSU Emergency Management Director, Darrell Jeter at 336-750-2863.
