TALIAS (Technology Assisted Legal Instruction and Services) is a live, interactive, videoconference series which originates at the North Carolina Central University School of Law and broadcast to its participating hosted sites, Winston-Salem State University, Fayetteville State University, Elizabeth City State University and North Carolina A&T State University.

TALIAS WSSU is located at the Enterprise Center (former Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club.)  The videoconferencing series provides a communication forum which allows people to access licensed attorneys who are skilled in various practiced areas.  These attorneys provide essential legal guidance and training to participants.

The volunteer attorneys hold free workshops for low-income North Carolina residents through NCCU School of LAW and broadcast live to the TALIAS WSSU locations.  Participants in the workshops may ask questions through the TALIAS videoconferencing system.  TALIAS saves citizens the time and cost of commuting to attend meetings and workshops in person.  The goal is to provide a convenient communication method for low-income North Carolina residents that need legal advice.

The TALIAS Project also provides undergraduate students a glimpse of NCCU Law School with a videoconferencing course “INTRODUCTION TO LAW AND THE LEGAL PROCESS.”  The course provides an overview of the materials covered in the first year of law school and covers the five basic courses: Torts, Contracts, Civil Procedure, Criminal Law and Property.
