Supplemental Instruction Mission & Goals
Supplemental Instruction Mission
Supplemental Instruction supports our university’s mission of success by providing academic and social support through in-class activities; regularly scheduled outside-of-class study sessions; and first year experience programs that engage the students within their first 30 credit hours and provide reference points and assistance in later semesters.
Supplemental Instruction Goals
- To improve students’ academic performance in historically difficult courses primarily in the areas of math and science
- To reduce the attrition rate of students and to increase the four-year graduation and retention rates
- To assist students in developing study strategies (critical thinking & problem solving skills) to assist them in the targeted course and in future courses.
