WSSU Gradaute

University College and Lifelong Learning (UCaLL) – the home of student success at WSSU. Whether introducing new students into Ram life, assisting students in navigating their chosen academic pathway through advising, or enhancing the critical thinking skills of our students through tutoring services, UCaLL is dedicated to helping all WSSU students reach their full collegiate potential.

Academic Advising

Proper Academic Advising, along with institutional support and resources, are vital to your success. Whether you are a first-year student just beginning your collegiate academic experience, a transfer student joining us from another institution, or a continuing student embarking on upper-level major courses, effective guidance in navigating college life can mean the difference between timely graduation and falling short of your academic goals. We are here to help you make the right decisions in choosing your major, selecting the proper courses, and building your academic pathway to graduation.

The Writer's Block

The Writer's Block is a space where WSSU writers of all ages and levels can receive service and assistance with not only classroom assignments, but personal writings such as resumes, cover letters, scholarship essays, personal statements, and more. Affectionately known as "The Block," we promote this as a communal space where our CSIs (Consultants: Student Writing Assistants), Specialists (Faculty Writing Assistants) and Information Clerks (Hall Monitors) offer professional courtesy to help you comfortably "live" with all of your writing assignments. Come and hang out with us on "The Block!"

Team BOSSUCaLL’s Team B.O.S.S. (Building Outstanding Student Success) is the namesake of WSSU’s TRiO Student Support Services, a federal Department of Education-funded program that exists to assist eligible students in achieving their academic goal of obtaining a baccalaureate degree. TRiO programs offer support to students who are low income, first-generation college students, and those with documented disabilities. Participants in the B.O.S.S. program have access to a computer lab and program-specific counselors and tutors who conduct workshops on study skills, test-taking strategies, time management, career choices, and much more, all free of charge.

Need help with a class assignment? Preparing for an exam? Are you simply looking for study strategies to help you succeed in the classroom? UCaLL’s academic support services are designed to enhance the critical skills that you need to reach your educational goals.

Computerized Placement Testing (CPT), College Level Examination Program (CLEP) testing, Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) testing and other assessment tools are available in UCaLL’s Testing Center.

Class Deans

Class Deans

The Class Deans in UCaLL are the “face” for their respective classes and serve as a points-of-contact for students, helping them develop and achieve their educational goals in a liberal education environment by providing academic advice, assisting with access to academic support services, and serving as a liaison between Faculty Advisors, Academic Success Counselors (ASCs), and other university partners.
