Continuing Education & Summer Sessions Mission

Winston-Salem State University’s Office of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions (CESS) aims to extend the University’s academic, professional development, and community engagement resources to the City of Winston-Salem and the surrounding community. CESS is dedicated to providing innovative and rigorous credit and non-credit courses, programs, and events that integrate knowledge across disciplinary boundaries, combine theory with practice, leverage the expertise of our students and faculty, and connect global constituencies for persons of all ages and interests.

Continuing Education & Summer Sessions Goals

1. To provide students with varying academic needs and backgrounds to attend Summer Sessions at a major academic institution
2. To be  the point of entry for adult learners to access the University’s resources
3. To support  and enhance community engagement initiatives for the City of Winston-Salem
4. To provide flexible learning options for credit and non-credit courses through online learning and technology
