How do I find out about the learning and development courses offered by the department of Human Resources?
The Department of Human Resources publishes a Learning and Development calendar and distributes them to each employee via the WSSU website.
Do I need approval from my supervisor to participate in learning activities?
Yes. Employee should discuss learning and development interest with his/her supervisor. The supervisor's consent allows an employee to participate in a training program during work hours. Most are free and offered at convenient dates, times, and online. Employees must follow standard procedures to process payment for courses that charge enrollment fees.
What is the deadline for registering for workshops?
Typically, participants must register for workshops at least one business day prior to the program start date. Please read course information for details. Registration is on a first come, first served basis, and early registration is encouraged to secure a seat. A class may be canceled or rescheduled if there is little to no interest in the course via registration.
How do I register for a training program?
Employees can register for most courses via the Human Resources website Learning & Development Workshops. Some courses require persons interested in registering to contact the instructor via phone or e-mail.
Class registration deadlines are typically no later than 1 business day prior to the class, to assist instructors in preparation.
Walk-ins can attend on a first-come, first-served basis. Admission is contingent upon room capacity/set-up, availability of materials, etc. Admission of walk-ins will be determined by the instructor.
