The mission of The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is to support and strengthen the academic and administrative needs of faculty, staff and students at Winston-Salem State University. The Office of Information Technology serves the faculty, staff and students by facilitating the enhancement of student development and services, teaching and learning, research, outreach and administrative operations through technology.
The Office of Information Technology provides academic, administrative and research computing support services for the entire university. WSSU has invested in providing our students, faculty, staff and visitors with world class technology services. There are many technology related services that are provided to our students, and we will be deploying new services incrementally.

WSSU Information Technology is comprised of several departments designed to serve the campus needs. Each department has responsibility for various IT functions. Together, the departments work as a team to provide the critical services necessary to support the mission of the university. Departments and Units of Information Technology
Administrative Information Systems (AIS) provides implementation and support services for the Student Information System and Enterprise Resource Management Planning System (Banner). This division provides critical support tools needed by the academic colleges and schools to gain access to educational records.
Multi-Media Technology Services is responsible for classroom technologies, and video conferencing facilities. Instructional Technologies has implemented two standard classroom formats: fully equipped: with a PC, document camera, DVD/VCR, wireless microphone, audio capture and playback, projector, and a writeable display tablet (Symposium); or laptop-ready.
The Network, Infrastructure and Communications (NIC) unit consists of four primary groups: Telecommunications, Infrastructure Network and Security, Access Services and System and Server Administration. The services range from communications to security.
The Technology Integration Group (TIG) provides innovation, development, support, training, monitoring and management of specific enterprise software applications and systems which drive academic, research, instructional, and staff productivity supporting the strategic initiatives of the University..
Technology Support Services ITSS) consists of the Technology Support Center (Helpdesk) and Computer Lab Support. The Technology Support Center provides level 1 and level 2 support for faculty, staff, and students at Winston-Salem State University. This includes a call center, field technicians, and desktop repair and replacement operation. TSS oversees centralized software licenses compliance and all new technology acquisitions.
Web Support Services (WSS) provides guidance to the university community, works collaboratively with other groups such as the Office of Marketing and Communication to ensure an integrated university web presence based in best practices and university branding guidelines. WSS provides support and training for the Cascade Server CMS that powers our public-facing website and manages the publishing of content via the Cascade CMS implementation at WSSU.
