Passport Requirements
Customers may begin submitting applications for the new Passport Card on February 1, but production of the card itself will not begin until April or May. The Passport Card may be used for land and sea travel between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and the Caribbean. It cannot be used for international air travel. Passport Cards will be adjudicated to the exact same standards as passport books. Passport Cards, like passport books, will be valid for 10 years for those customers age 16 and above, and for those under 16. The fees for the card are different from the passport book, and will be be discussed along with the other fee changes.
