We encourage and reinforce positive health behaviors and the optimum wellness of each student by promoting “Healthy Rams for Life”.

Student Health Insurance
All students are required to have health insurance. Student BlueSM Health Insurance is offered through Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC). Your student bill will include the cost of this insurance.
You may waive coverage in the BCBSNC plan if you have other credible health insurance (e.g. individual policy, coverage through a parent, Medicaid, Medicare, etc). If you elect to waive coverage and your waiver is approved, you will receive a refund for the cost of the university-sponsored plan. The approval and refund process may take up to 60 days to complete.
NOTE: WSSU Intercollegiate athletes cannot waive the BCBSNC university-sponsored plan.
Open enrollment period TBA. The deadline for enrollment and waiver is 9/10/2014.
