University Student Activities & Engagement Mission

The mission of University Student Activities & Engagement is to enhance academic learning and retention via co-curricular learning and experiences that promote student engagement, appreciation of cultural differences, civility, and expression of ideas, citizenship, creativity, and leadership development to promote the holistic student.  University Student Activities & Engagement is committed to developing leaders of character dedicated to serving the greater good while keeping in mind the university motto, Enter to Learn, Depart to Serve.

University Student Activities & Engagement serves as a guide and resource for Winston-Salem State University Students in creating a rewarding college experience that connects students to their institution and provides them with numerous opportunities to get involved and develop their leadership skills.  University Student Activities & Engagement supports student involvement by working closely with the Student Government Association, Student Organizations, Greek Life, Leadership Programs and Multicultural Student Programs.  University Student Activities & Engagement facilitates numerous events, activities, and initiatives that occur during the school year that promotes student involvement outside of the classroom and contributes to the co-curricular and holistic college experience that prepares students for life after graduation.

University of Student Activities & Engagement Vision

University Student Activities & Engagement will become a leader at the Winston-Salem State University in fostering the growth of students by offering innovative, cultural, educational and social programming that will promote leadership development and civic involvement.

University Student Activities & Engagement Learning Outcomes

  • Students will develop transferable skills that will allow them to influence and lead in a multicultural and diverse society. 
  • Students will be provided with a variety of leadership programs, training and development, and opportunities to further enhance their skill set, knowledge and impact their co-curricular experience.
  • There will be an increase in collaborative initiatives between University Student Activities & Engagement, The Office of Volunteer Services and other organizations within the community.
  • Students will have a better understanding of the importance of good citizenship and how they can impact their community through involvement, service, and leadership.
