MBA - Master of Business Administration
The MBA program at Winston-Salem State University is designed to meet the needs of working professionals. The MBA program is predominantly part-time in nature and offered only in the evenings. The program enhances analytical expertise, oral and written communication skills, appreciation of cultural diversity, global awareness and the ability to work well in teams. WSSU's MBA program is flexible in nature enabling a student to enroll in either Fall or Spring semester.
Students who complete the MBA degree will be prepared for a variety of professional opportunities in both corporate and non-corporate settings. Once students complete their core MBA courses (8 courses or 24 semester hours), they will have the opportunity to choose four electives from a variety of disciplines including but not limited to financial services, management information systems and general management. WSSU's MBA program is flexible -- each student can choose four electives that best meet his/her career goals and skill sets needed for advancement.
This program is open to graduates in all disciplines. Some students may be admitted to the MBA program lacking undergraduate prerequisites in business. Such students may be required to complete up to 3 foundation courses (9 semester hours) before beginning the core course work. The foundation courses relate to accounting, economics, and business statistics.
The Faculty of Business offers Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accredited academic programs that equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the challenges of a dynamic and ever changing world. The departments of Accounting and Management Information Systems, Economics and Finance, and Management and Marketing house eight undergraduate programs and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) graduate program designed for working professionals. The Faculty also offers students unique learning opportunities through our corporate and community partnerships, student run investment fund, and dynamic learning environment anchored by our state-of-the-art Finance Laboratory. In all, the Faculty of Business combines the distinctive strengths of a rigorous business education within the liberal arts context of the College in developing the next generation of influential leaders in all facets of business and society.
