Library Periodicals

The Periodicals Department, located on 1st floor West, includes the journals and newspapers owned by O'Kelly Library. Subscriptions to approximately 2000 journals, magazines, and newspapers are provided in a variety of formats: print, microfilm, microfiche, and electronic are provided. Both current and bound issues of journals taken in print form are housed in the Reference Room on 1st Floor West. The microforms collection (microfilm and microfiche) and readers are located on 2nd floor West.

All periodicals, whether in print or microform, are shelved in alphabetical order by the journal title. Patrons need to consult the online catalog (via web or telnet) to find out which journals the library owns. Current newspapers and popular magazines, such as Time, Newsweek and Ebony, are kept behind the Circulation Desk and are available on request. Periodicals do not circulate out of the library.

Full-Text electronic journals are available through a number of services; NC LIVE, LEXIS-NEXIS, ProQuest Nursing Journals, Education Complete, and EBSCO Online. Only NC LIVE databases are available to both on-campus and off-campus patrons. For the password to access NC LIVE off-campus, please contact the Circulation Desk (336-750-2449) or the Distance Librarian.

Please review our Serials Policies page.
