
RAMS Scholar Program
Raising Achievement in Mathematics and Science (RAMS) Scholar Program
The RAMS Scholar program is a National Science Foundation funded HBCU-UP program that aims to increase and strengthen the number of minority students who enroll, major in and graduate from any of the STEM majors of Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Computer Science at WSSU. It also aims to encourage such students to matriculate into graduate programs at major research institutions.
As a RAMS Scholar:
- You will be paired with a faculty mentor to work on research
- You will spend at lease 8 hours per week on your research project
- You will have the opportunity to attend a professional meeting to present your work
- You will receive a monthly stipend of $300 (max. of 4 payments per semester)
Requirements:
- Be enrolled full-time at WSSU as a major in either chemistry, biology, mathematics, or computer science
- Be a full-time freshman, sophomore, or junior
- Have, and maintain, a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Have a strong determination and interest to enter into a STEM graduate program
