Mission
The Department of Mathematics offers a major program in mathematics, a major program option in applied mathematics, and a major program in mathematics with secondary education teacher certification.
The department also offers a minor program in mathematics, general education mathematics courses, and support courses for students majoring in other areas.
Goal
The goals of the Department of Mathematics are to:
- Prepare graduates for entry-level positions in teaching, business, industry and government, or for graduate study.
- Develop in the mathematics major the required skills to solve problems, think critically, and communicate mathematically.
- Develop skills to solve problems and think critically within the framework of a liberal education.
