
Dr. Karen Rice
Assistant Professor of Music - Piano
Karen Rice finished the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano from UNC Greensboro (UNCG) in May 2009. She holds the M.M. in piano, also from UNCG, and a B.A. in piano performance from Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Dr. Rice teaches applied piano and class piano at Winston Salem State University and also serves as a vocal and instrumental accompanist.
Along with being a solo performer, Rice is an active collaborative pianist both locally and throughout the mid-Atlantic region in recitals, competitions, and conferences. She has also been a judge for several piano festivals in North Carolina. Recent performances include a collaborative lecture recital at the College Music Society national conference in Quebec City and a recital tour of several colleges and universities in Virginia and North Carolina.
Rice has held faculty positions at UNC Wilmington and North Carolina A&T State University, has also taught at the Music Academy of North Carolina, UNCG, and the UNCG Summer Music Camp. She currently resides in Greensboro, NC with her husband, Daniel, and their cat, Addie.
