Mr. Raymond Mietus
Assistant Director of Bands/ Instructor of Percussion
Mr. Mietus received his Bachelor’s in music education from Eastern Illinois University in 2003 while studying with Professor Johnny Lee Lane. In 2005, he received his Master’s degree in percussion performance from the University of Iowa studying with Dr. Dan Moore. While at Iowa he worked as the Hawkeye Marching Band drum line instructor.
His career as a performer and recording artist includes: Grammy-award winner Gary Loizzo, Christian recording artist Vanessa E., Danville Symphony Orchestra, Racine Kilties, Chicago Royal Airs Drum and Bugle Corps, Sojourn Rock –n- Roll Tribute, and many others.
At Winston-Salem State University Mr. Mietus instructs the drum line, teaches “Basic Musicianship,” “Percussion Major,” and “Percussion Ensemble.” His other activities include serving on university committees, organizing the drum line performance at the Winston-Salem Dell Headquarters Grand Opening Celebration, and grant writing.
