Unauthorized access to any Winston-Salem State University computer resource is prohibited.
Access to computing resources is controlled by user account security. Faculty and staff users are required to change their passwords on their first logon and then every ninety days. Users should never give their user account password to another individual.
Changes to user account access must be requested by a manager or department chair.
Access to "public" information on WSSU web sites and other systems is restricted via a firewall. At times however outside agencies or vendors will need access to internal systems. All temporary access to external sources must be approved by the Director of Computing and Client Services or the Director of Network and Communication Services. Permanent access must be approved by the Associate Provost for Information Technology/Chief Information Officer.
All servers maintained by Computing and Client Services will have virus protection software installed and operational. End user systems as well should have virus protection software installed. End users should be cautious when opening messages and attachments that they have received via e-mail.
