Profile

Dr. Stanley is an Associate Professor and past Coordinator for the Therapeutic Recreation (TR) program and has taught and developed courses in the program since 1987. She has been active in program, departmental, and university service including committee contributions such as faculty evaluation and governance. She recently joined the Internationalization of the Curriculum committee and serves as the TR Internship Coordinator. Dr. Stanley is a Licensed Recreational Therapist and Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.

Professional interests include curriculum design, teaching strategies, leisure education, and professionalism. Growing up in a military family lead to ongoing interests in travel and learning about other cultures. Her daughter is currently in high school and plays the cello in the school orchestra.

Since Dr. Stanley has been with the TR Program for many years and has been involved in developing the TR program, she has taught most of the courses in the TR degree program. Most recently, she has taught the following courses:
