The programs in the School of Education and Human Performance (SEHP) are committed to preparing highly qualified graduates who meet the demands of the professions for which they are prepared. To fulfill this commitment, SEHP programs engage in continuous improvement efforts anchored in continuous assessment of candidate, graduate, and program performance. Continuous assessment includes both internal and external review. Programs and departments within SEHP have developed assessment plans which guide the collection, analysis, and use of data for program improvement. All programs and departments collect, analyze and review data to identify program modifications that improve graduate performance. At a minimum, program review meets the substantial requirements of processes that are guided by the accreditation standards of the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The teacher preparation programs also engage in the added rigor of external accreditation review by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the program approval process administered by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. The undergraduate program in Rehabilitation Studies and the graduate program in Rehabilitation Counseling are also submitted to rigorous external accreditation review by the Council on Rehabilitation Education.
Program faculty have access to a variety of assessment resources including technology resources such as Tracdat, Tk20, RAMPort Reporting, and SharePoint. Support services are also available through the SEHP Assessment Coordinator, the Office of Institutional Assessment and Research, and other university support services.
