April has events for the entire Ramily. There is something for everyone. The Social Mobility Summit is a day-long conference that offers special insight into the challenges facing the lowest income groups in Forsyth County and beyond. The Forty Under 40 Gala celebrates the achievements of young alumni who have gone above and beyond to ‘Depart to Serve’. The WSSU Annual Golf Classic gives participants an opportunity to show off their golf skills while supporting student success. Spring Open House invites prospective students and their families to experience WSSU. Scholarship Day is WSSU’s premium academic showcase that highlights the advanced level undergraduate and graduate research at WSSU and the scholars who do the work. The Singing Rams’ Spring Concert, featuring guest choirs and ensembles, was chosen as one of the top 10 events in April by the Winston-Salem Journal. For more details on these, read on.

Social Mobility Summit

April 2-3

The 2019 Social Mobility Summit, themed “Innovative Approaches on Campus and in the Community,” will bring together academic scholars, community leaders, researchers and students to discuss efforts to improve social and economic mobility and change the lives of those most in need in the community. Spring Open House

April 6

Get a feel for what life is like for a student at WSSU. Open house gives prospective students an opportunity to interact with faculty, staff, and students while exploring life as a Ram. Read More

Singing Rams’ Spring Concert

April 7

WSSU’s Department of Music presents the Singing Rams’ annual spring concert. This year’s theme is “I Too Sing America!” The concert features guest choirs and ensembles including Northern High School Advanced chorus of Durham and Just Music, the WSSU choir and the Burke Singers. This event is free and open to the public. Read More

Scholarship Day

April 11

WSSU’s biggest event of the year for highlighting the research, scholarship, and creative activities of our undergraduate and graduate students. This day of events allows students, faculty, staff and donors to see the amazing academic activities happening at WSSU. 

Forty under 40 Gala

April 13

The WSSU Young Alumni Council celebrates 40 alumni under the age of 40 who have made significant contributions in their careers and their communities. Read More

Annual Golf Classic

April 26

The WSSU Foundation presents the 19th Annual WSSU Golf Classic. This event, located at the Meadowlands Golf Club, the finest course in the Triad, supports student scholarships. Teams and individual players are welcomed. Read More

WSSU shows you the money

It’s been three years since Winston-Salem State University announced its largest donation in the school’s history from a single donor. Philanthropist MacKenzie Scott donated $30 million to WSSU in December 2020.
