WSSU’s ‘Forever Red Homecoming’ website is live with important parking and operational updates

It’s homecoming y’all! Well, not quite.

But the countdown to “Forever Red” has begun, and Winston-Salem State University’s “Forever Red Homecoming” website is now live, serving as the official one-stop hub for all things homecoming.

Alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of the university can now access event details, maps, and important updates for a week filled with celebration, connection and treasured traditions.

Homecoming Week will take place Oct. 12-19, 2025, with highlights including:

  • Lighting of the Sign
  • Step Show and Concert
  • Founder’s Day Convocation
  • Coronation and Royal Ball
  • Community Parade along Martin Luther King Jr. Drive
  • Homecoming Football Game – WSSU Rams vs. Livingstone College Blue Bears at 1:30 p.m., Oct. 18, at Bowman Gray Stadium. Digital and cashless ticket sales only
Changes to parking and campus access
Due to ongoing construction at K.R. Williams Auditorium, visitors should expect changes in parking and campus operations. All guests are encouraged to review homecoming maps and  parking instructions available on the homecoming website.

There will be on-campus parking Oct. 16–17 in the following lots:

  • The Practice Field (near the daycare center as you enter campus from Reynolds Park Road)
  • Lots LSW and LSE (across the bridge if entering campus from Cromartie St.)
  • Lots P, PC and PS (near the campus entrance at Reynolds Park Road)
  • East Lot near the Bowman Gray Stadium

Handicapped parking will be available in Lot U (in front of the Donald J. Reeves Student Activities Center as you enter campus from Success Way Drive) and at the daycare center (to the right as you enter campus from Reynolds Park Road).

There will be no on-campus parking on Saturday, Oct. 18.

New hours of operation
WSSU will also observe special hours of operation during Homecoming Week, with campus closing at 8 p.m. Thursday through Friday (Oct. 16-17).

In a recent Town Hall meeting with alumni, WSSU Chancellor Bonita J. Brown explained that the decision is a proactive safety measure.

“This change helps ensure the safety and well-being of our students, alumni and guests, and it reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to creating a secure and welcoming environment,” Brown said.

“Homecoming is one of the most cherished traditions at Winston-Salem State University. I look forward to welcoming everyone back to campus for a week filled with joy, pride and unforgettable moments,” Brown said.

The “Forever Red Homecoming” website includes a full schedule of events, parking information and maps. Also click here for frequently asked questions.
