Chancellor Bonita J. Brown named to inaugural ASU+GSV Higher Education Insights Board

National appointment underscores university’s leadership in innovation

Winston-Salem State University Chancellor Bonita J. Brown has been selected to serve on the inaugural ASU+GSV (Arizona State University + Global Silicon Vally) Higher Education Insights Board, a national body of forward-thinking presidents and chancellors shaping the future of higher education.

The board brings together more than 40 higher education leaders from public and private institutions and community colleges, representing nearly 1.5 million students nationwide, to navigate a defining decade for higher education.

Higher education is at an extraordinary inflection point as traditional models converge with agentic artificial intelligence, mission-driven innovation and new approaches to human flourishing. Amid enrollment pressures, affordability challenges, workforce realignment and shifting federal policy, the board is designed to help institutional leaders move from uncertainty to opportunity.

“Winston-Salem State University has long been committed to meeting students where they are and preparing them for where the world is going,” Brown said. “This moment calls for bold leadership that embraces innovation while staying grounded in mission. I’m honored to join colleagues who are shaping the future of learning.”

Board members will collaborate year-round and convene in person at the 2026 ASU+GSV Summit in April in California.
