Research is a central part of the overall WSSU experience. All WSSU students have access to, and experience, high-quality research, scholarship and creative activities. We're preparing the next generation of scientists, social scientists, visionaries and health practitioners. 

  • Students who engage in research at WSSU gain mentors and are more likely to persist in their program and benefit from a full learning experience at college.
  • Students participating in funded research have opportunity for financial supports. Highly competitive GRA positions with monthly stipends and tuition assistance are also available. 
  • Undergraduate and graduate students engaging in research gain real-world experience and become more competitive for careers and advanced degrees post-graduation.
