Faculty & Staff
RAM RE-CONNECT EMPLOYEE INFORMATION
The health and safety of our Ram family are always our top priority. We strongly encourage each of you to get vaccinated and continue the healthy habits we’ve adopted. Please observe the guidance below.
- Face coverings are no longer required in indoor spaces, including classrooms, lab spaces (unless clinical and required by law or mandate), personal offices, dining areas, events spaces, etc.
- Faculty and staff cannot require people to wear masks in individual classrooms, lab spaces, personal offices, events spaces, etc.
- Faculty and staff can encourage mask wearing in their immediate spaces.
- Faculty and staff cannot change a course’s modality. We will sustain our current course modality plan of 70% in-person and 30% online consistent with UNC System guidance on returning to pre-Covid instructional delivery ratios.
- Faculty and staff cannot refuse service to individuals choosing not to wear masks.
- Masks will be optional in residence halls.
- Masks will be optional on WSSU shuttles.
We strongly encourage everyone to continue wearing a face covering when in public spaces. Additionally, we want to reiterate that all our mitigation efforts and PPE remain available to everyone. We will continue our high-touch cleaning practices and provide testing and vaccination opportunities. We fully support employees in making the best decisions for their personal health.
As a reminder, please be patient and show respect for your fellow Rams as we move through this process. Everyone’s sense of personal risk moves at a different pace.
Departments can request a supply of University-branded cloth masks, disposable procedure masks, and KN95 masks through the form below. We ask that each department designate an individual in their area to request and distribute appropriately within the requesting department.
If an employee or student wishes to wear an N95 provided by the University on a voluntary basis, the employee must first request an N95 Respirator and Voluntary Use Waiver through an electronic form system.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have updated their recommendation of isolation and quarantine recommendation for people who test positive for Covid-19 or are exposed to a positive case of Covid-19.
- Anyone who tests positive for Covid-19 should isolate themselves for at least five days. This is for both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals. If your symptoms have improved after five days, you may exit isolation, but you must adhere to strict mask usage for another five days.
- Anyone who is exposed to a positive case of Covid-19 and is unvaccinated or has not had a booster shot when eligible to do so, should quarantine for at least five days. After these five days, you may exit quarantine, but you must adhere to strict mask usage for another five days. Anyone exposed to Covid-19 should get a Covid-19 test around five days after exposure.
- Anyone who is exposed to a positive case of Covid-19 but is fully vaccinated AND has received an eligible booster shot does not need to quarantine after an exposure but must adhere to strict mask usage for at least ten days. Anyone exposed to Covid-19 should get a Covid-19 test around five days after exposure.
*Please note the revised information from the CDC is only guidance for our campus operations. Final decisions on Isolation length and exit will be determined by our medical staff.
Covid-19 will continue to evolve over time, and so will the appropriate guidance that follows. Prevention is the best option for preventing COVID19 infection. Get vaccinated, get boosted, and wear a mask.
If you have been exposed to a positive case or have tested positive for Covid-19, please complete the form below as the first step. The form automatically generates your quarantine or isolation requirement. The Office of Emergency Management, Human Resources, and your direct supervisor will be notified upon submitting the form. You will receive follow-up information from your direct supervisor.
Employee COVID-19 Response Form

While we move forward with returning employees to campus, we will continue to allow supervisors flexibility to make decisions concerning teleworking. Each employee that wishes to telework will need to submit a Remote and Flexible Time Agreement (Telework Form) to their supervisor. Please use the form below to submit your request to telework. Please consider the guidance below in making the best decision for you and your department.
- Remote and Flexible Time Agreement (Telework Form)
- Teleworking is a not a right for employees. Supervisors may deny requests if it’s not suitable for the department.
- Employees may telework full-time at the manager's discretion.
- Supervisors should consider job duties, an employee’s likelihood of success when working remotely, the availability of an appropriate remote work environment (including equipment), and other relevant factors when deciding whether to authorize remote work.
- If a supervisor authorizes remote work, they must ensure that employees have the necessary hardware and software to work remotely effectively. Personal equipment may not be used.
- Departments are responsible for any expenses related to teleworking. Due to supply chain shortages, laptop orders may take 8-12 weeks. This may mean that employees will need to work on campus until appropriate teleworking equipment is available.
- IT will NOT be available to assist employees with installation of hardware at home for teleworking.
- Supervisors may contact IT for guidance with equipment needs.
- All employees working remotely must utilize the features of the university’s phone system to remotely receive calls made to their university phone number.
- The university envisions working from an appropriate remote work environment. This environment should ensure productivity, professionalism, accessibility to co-workers, minimal distractions, and protection of private or confidential information.
- The university’s expectations for employees working remotely will be the same as expectations for similarly situated employees working from campus.
- Compensation for internet will not be provided.
