Spring 2021 Semester
Merit and Need-Based
- >=2.0 GPA
- Health Sciences majors are not eligible for this award
- Scholarship is renewable providing student makes satisfactory academic progress
Merit-Based
- Freshmen
- >= 3.5 GPA
- Must enroll in at least 15 credit hours each semester
- Scholarship is renewable providing student maintains >=3.4 GPA
- >=3.0 GPA
- Supports students that receive merit-based scholarships
- Biology or Mathematics majors
- >=3.0 GPA
- Must be North Carolina residents with preference given to applicants that reside in Davie or Forsyth Counties
- Scholarship is renewable for up to three years providing recipient maintains >=3.0 GPA
- Business majors
- Juniors
- >=3.0 GPA
- Must be resident of Forsyth County
- Must submit a letter of recommendation from a Business faculty member
- Scholarship is renewable providing student maintains >=3.0 GPA
- Freshmen
- Business majors
- >=3.0 GPA
- Must submit letters of recommendation (2) attesting to the applicants academic potential
- Scholarship is renewable providing student makes satisfactory academic progress
- >=3.0 GPA
- Must be permanent resident of Durham, NC
- Freshmen, sophomores, juniors and non-traditional students
- >=3.0 GPA
- Must complete NCLBC application and submit it to the WSSU Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. Application can be found here.
Need-Based
- >=3.0 GPA
- Must be a permanent resident of Bertie, Halifax, Hertford and or Bertie Counties in North Carolina
- Award is non-renewable
- >=2.5 GPA
- Must be a 1st generation college student
- Must be a resident of North Carolina
- >=3.0 GPA
- Must be a single parent
- Must submit a 500 word essay using the prompt: Obtaining my degree is important because…
- Scholarship is renewable but applicant must submit new essay every year
- >=2.0 GPA
- Preference given to students transferring to WSSU from Davidson County Community College
- Preference given to students from Davidson and Davie Counties
- Preference given to applicants with >=3.0 GPA
- Preference given to permanent residents of North Carolina
- Scholarship is renewable providing student makes satisfactory academic progress

- Must be a non-traditional student: part-time student, working full-time, single parent
- Junior or Senior
