Welcome to the Student Centers at Winston-Salem State University

The Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) Student Centers exist to support the university’s mission by providing a comprehensive, inclusive, and vibrant environment where students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests come together to experience community, foster leadership, and engage in enriching experiences that define campus life.

Serving as the central hub of student engagement, the Student Centers are dedicated to enhancing personal and professional development through a wide range of programs, services, and facilities that promote involvement, inclusion, and excellence.

The Student Centers support the strategic priorities of the Division of Student Affairs by upholding the following pillars of the Student Affairs Strategic Plan:

  • Transformative Student Experience – Delivering a welcoming, supportive environment that facilitates academic and personal success through accessible and engaging spaces.
  • Inclusive Excellence and Belonging – Providing culturally affirming environments that foster a sense of community, identity, and inclusion.
  • Leadership and Development – Offering programs and employment opportunities that develop student leadership, professional growth, and civic responsibility.
  • Operational Excellence – Ensuring that our facilities are safe, sustainable, well-maintained, and aligned with university-wide initiatives for excellence and efficiency.

In alignment with the WSSU Student Affairs Strategic Plan, Student Centers facilities support the vision of a campus community where all students thrive. The Centers strive to ensure access to innovative, functional, and inclusive spaces that encourage academic enrichment, wellness, and meaningful connections. The strategic plan also places emphasis on leveraging physical environments to enhance the student journey from orientation through graduation by:

  • Supporting diverse programs and student-centered events
  • Enabling collaborative learning and experiential engagement
  • Enhancing campus pride and belonging through quality facilities

By aligning with the Student Affairs Strategic Plan, the WSSU Student Centers remain committed to being a catalyst for positive transformation and sustained engagement across the Ram community. The Student Centers play a pivotal role in delivering the Division’s broader goals to improve student satisfaction, build institutional pride, and reinforce a student-first culture.
