RamADVISORY: Winter Weather/Condition Change - December 8, 2025
RamADVISORY: For your safety, Winston-Salem State University will operate under Condition 1 – Reduced Operations from December 8 (today) at 7 p.m. to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December. 9, due to inclement winter weather and travel conditions.
The university will remain open, but students and staff should use their best judgment when deciding whether it is safe to travel to campus. Regular operations will resume at 10 a.m. on December 9; however, please note the evening exam time change.
EXAM SCHEDULE
Please note that today’s exam schedule remains the same, and tomorrow’s (December 9) exam schedule has been adjusted. See the updated details in the chart below and be sure to follow any further guidance from your instructor.
Exams scheduled for 6 p.m. today will proceed as scheduled.
Exams scheduled for 6 p.m. tomorrow (December 9) will be moved to 8 a.m. on Thursday, December 11.

RamADVISORY: Winter Weather/Condition Change - December 7, 2025
RamADVISORY: WSSU will continue to operate under normal conditions on Monday, December 8. Forecasts say light snow may mix with rain through early afternoon tomorrow, with temperatures remaining above freezing in the Piedmont Triad. Students and employees should use their best judgment about deciding whether to travel based on local conditions and notify faculty or supervisors if they are unable to do so.

RamADVISORY: Upcoming Siren Test - August 20, 2025
On Friday, August 22nd, between the hours of 730 am and 10 am, our Federal Commander outdoor siren system will be tested to ensure the system is working appropriately. The system may be activated numerous times to test the volume, the amplifiers, and other components to ensure the equipment is working. You may be able to hear chimes and/or a testing message on campus. When the testing is complete, the campus will be notified through the RamALERT system. RamALERT: A tornado warning REMAINS IN EFFECT for the WSSU campus until 8:45AM. Seek shelter immediately until further advised.. A tornado warning means that a tornado has been spotted or radar indicates the presence of a thunderstorm circulation that could result in a tornado. If you are outside, seek shelter IMMEDIATELY!
If you are inside, move to an interior room on the lowest floor or basement. Stairwells, bathrooms, and closets are also appropriate sheltering spots. Stay away from windows and glass doors.

RamALERT: Campus Condition 2 - February 19, 2025
RamALERT: WSSU moves to Condition 2 – Suspended Operations
WSSU officials are closely monitoring the approach of the impending winter weather. Currently, our area is under a winter storm warning. Weather forecasts show Winston-Salem could receive 1-3 inches of snow and ice, with precipitation potentially beginning Wednesday morning.
For the safety of our students, faculty, and staff, the university will move to Condition 2 – Suspended Operations at 5 a.m. Wednesday, February 19. During this time, all activities on campus are canceled.
Remote work is encouraged, or personal leave time must be used. If you do not have any personal leave time, adverse weather leave may be taken but must be made up within the designated timeframe.
On Wednesday, Kennedy Dining Hall and retail dining in DJR will be open the following hours:

RamADVISORY: Water Main Break - February 11, 2025
We want to inform you that a significant water main break has occurred on campus near the Cromartie and MLK Drive entry. This leak will impact parking availability on Wednesday, February 12. Lot F will be closed. Lots LSW and LSE will only be accessible via Lowery Street. Lots H and G may also be in the impacted area.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a definite timeline for repairs at this time. We kindly ask that you cooperate with parking personnel and/or campus police, who will provide guidance and redirect you to alternative parking areas once you approach campus. Shuttles will be available for staff members who may be asked to park in off-campus lots.
The City of Winston-Salem and the WSSU Facilities teams are on site and working to repair the break. We urge everyone to exercise caution when approaching campus on Wednesday as main entry points may be closed. Your understanding and patience during this unexpected incident are greatly appreciated. We are working quickly to resolve this issue.

As a precautionary measure, the university will be implementing Condition 1 protocols from noon today, Sunday, January 12, until noon on Monday, January 13. Classes scheduled before noon will be conducted online. Regular operations and class schedules will resume at noon on Monday.
We urge students, faculty, and staff to carefully consider their travel plans to campus on Monday. Employees are required to obtain approval from their supervisors in order to work remotely or take leave.
Kennedy Dining Hall will maintain weekend hours today and will return to normal operations on Monday. Retail dining services will reopen at 11 a.m. on Monday. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this time.

WSSU officials are closely monitoring the approach of the impending winter storm. Currently, our area is under a winter storm warning. Weather forecasts show Winston-Salem could receive 1-3 inches of snow and ice with precipitation beginning Friday afternoon, January 10.
To allow faculty and staff the time to travel safely, the university will move to Condition 2 – Suspended Operations at 12 p.m. Friday, January 10. During this time, all activities on campus are canceled.
Kennedy Dining Hall will be open regular weekend hours. Retail dining will close at noon on Friday and remain closed until 11 a.m. on Monday, January 13.
WSSU officials will continually monitor the weather over the weekend and provide timely operational updates. Normal operations are scheduled to resume at noon on Sunday, January 12.
