Statement on Human Resources Consultation and Management Responsibility

The Office of Human Resources provides a variety of services in the areas of Employment, Compensation & Classification, Leave Administration, Workers’ Compensation, Employee Relations, Training and Benefits. HR will comply with Federal, State and university policies and regulations while endeavoring to meet the needs of our customers.

In the process of resolving a range of complex workplace issues, it is the responsibility of HR and management to do so in a manner that complies with policy and protects the university and its constituents. Management decisions that may place the university in a place of vulnerability will be escalated by HR up the chain of command up to and including the Chancellor.

Additionally, non-compliance with HR processes including, but not limited to, Leave Administration, Performance Management and mandatory training, will be escalated by HR up the chain of command up to and including the Chancellor.

Clery Act Notice to Prospective Employees

Winston-Salem State University is committed to fostering a safe and secure environment. In order to comply with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the university produces an Annual Security and Fire Safety Report on or before October 1 of each year. The annual report contains information about campus safety including, statistics about crimes on or near campus and on-campus fires from the last three years.
