University Advancement drives the philanthropic efforts that support our beloved Winston-Salem State University.

We do this through a variety of ways, including:

The WSSU Foundation is closely aligned with University Advancement and manages all private gifts to the university.

General Fundraising and Solicitation Clearance Policy

The Division of University Advancement exists to support the growth of external partnerships and private resources for Winston-Salem State University. A coordinated process is required to effectively manage and sustain relationships with the University’s existing and potential supporters. The coordination of all fundraising activity among faculty and staff is a central component for building and sustaining relationships with external stakeholders. This policy outlines the procedures for the creation and management of relationships with existing and potential donors. Advancement is responsible for the coordination, solicitation, and stewardship activity on behalf of Winston-Salem State University. 60% of our students expect no family contribution to their college expenses. For every $1,000 in scholarship support, a student is 20% more likely to remain in school and graduate. (Less that $84 a month.) Almost $1.5 Million in federal and state grant funds were eliminated over the past school year. Your contribution is tax deductible. The WSSU Foundation is a 501(c)(3).
