Student Blue Health Insurance
WSSU has selected Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina to offer Student Blue. Student Blue gives you access to a large provider network, including coverage for most services at the student health center. All students, undergraduate (6 credit hours or more) and graduate (3 credit hours or more) are automatically billed for health insurance as part of tuition and fees. If you have private health insurance through another carrier, then you must provide our insurance company with proof of your coverage. Then, the health insurance fee will be waived/credited.
First Day Complete Course Materials
Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) in partnership with Barnes & Noble College, has launched a new program designed to lower costs and increase access to required course materials for undergraduate and graduate classes before the first day of classes. Each semester, Fall and Spring, First Day Complete will allow students to select all their required course materials for their undergraduate and graduate classes for a flat fee, regardless of how much each textbook or digital access would cost to rent or purchase separately. You may opt out of this charge by the Census Date.

We have a scholarship portal called Scholarship Universe, and it is open from March 1 until April 1 for the next academic year. This is where all admitted and continuing students may apply for institutional scholarships. You may review and apply for external scholarships at any time in the portal.
We do encourage all students to search for outside scholarship opportunities such as College Foundation, UNCF, Big Future scholarships, or Thurgood Marshall.
